I’m going a little off topic today in hopes of getting some ideas and or recommendations on the mobile internet front.  I do a lot of traveling.  And I need access to the internet when I do.  We’ve all encountered the wifi coffee shops, book stores and even the State Park system in hopes of using these for our mobile office.  Internet can sometimes be a bit on the very slow side in these locations.  So I’m starting to investigate the alternatives by buying into a mobile internet plan.

I

‘m currently living in the city of Minneapolis where we have a city-wide plan with USI Wireless.  They have installed nodes throughout the city that give you access with your account and I have been happy with this plan.  It’s relatively cheap (I pay $35/mo for my wireless service in my home) and use it for my laptops, my iPhone, my Sony network connector for my TV and have the ability to watch Netflix and Hulu with little download lag time.

I’m currently exploring CLEAR.com as a possible options, only because they offer in addition to their home wireless modem, a mobile option.  Looking at the coverage map, it appears that I would be able to take my laptop all over the country and access the 3G network as well as some of the new 4G coverage areas, and get this plan for $60/mo for both home and mobile.

So, my question to you…  Are you a mobile internet user?  Do you use CLEAR?  What are your experiences on the road?  I’m looking forward to reading your comments on this topic. And thanks!!
