When creating your membership site, you’ll want to add plugins to enhance the site and make your membership program more helpful and enjoyable to your members. There are many plugins available online to add value to your WordPress site.

There are probably dozens of plugins that are “must-haves” for your WordPress site. The following three plugins are among the top on my list!

Page Link Manager
Typically, you’ll end up creating pages in your membership site that you do not want to show up in your navigation bar. Page Link Manager is the best way to choose which pages will show. The plugin adds a link in the Tools section of your WordPress Admin site. When you click “Page Links” you are shown a list of all your pages. Just check the boxes next to the ones that you want to display on your site. Simple! And MUCH easier than editing the PHP code!

Flash Video Player
The Flash Video Player plugin is a super simple way to share your own videos with your members. With the help of a short-code, you can share the URL of your video (I use Amazon S3) and the system automatically creates a player. There are many different settings you can use to adjust how the player works, if you so choose. The player loads very well and is simple for your members to use. This free plugin is a great alternative to spendy programs and services!

Taragana’s Del.icio.us mp3 Player Plugin
Finding a plugin to assist with audios on a WordPress site can be daunting. There are many out there, and each one has a quirk or two that made it difficult to use. Taragana’s Del.icio.us mp3 Player Plugin plays.mp3 files quickly and easily. I have yet to find a simpler audio file player plugin! The beauty of this plugin is that it takes all.mp3 files that are linked in your site and makes them playable with a small “Play” icon. The audio is also available for download by clicking on the link. It’s set for use with Deli.icio.us, a social bookmarking site, as well. This is a great “fix it and forget it” plugin as there are no short-codes to remember nor any complicated html/javascript to learn.

These three plugins are just a few of the plugins you will want for your membership site. Plugins really help in making WordPress flexible and easy to use in any number of ways.
