Books & Magazines

  • Getting Everything You Can Out Of All You've Got - If you buy no other marketing book, buy this one. If you subscribe to my newsletter and/or blog, you know I'm a big fan of Jay Abraham. This guy is brilliant and he has no time for theory or "new ideas". He is an absolute storehouse of perfected methods that work for small business. He believes if you can't guarantee that a marketing method will work, you shouldn't use it. Everything in this book works and he gives all kinds of examples of companies and businesses that he's helped double and triple their business and he gives you all the details of how he does it. This book is a "must have".
  • Confessions of Shameless Internet Promoters - While some of the practices of a few of the “shameless” promoters might be viewed as questionable, there are some great and helpful articles in this book on promoting yourself, your business and your website.

  • Multiple Streams of Internet Income - There are few people in the Internet world who have figured out how to make as much money on the Internet as Robert Allen. This book is full of great tricks, tips and solid "how I did It" information.

  • Brag! The Art of Tooting Your own Horn Without Blowing It - Peggy Klaus has written an amazing book on the fine art of selling yourself. There's a right way and a wrong way to do it. Peggy will teach you the difference. She also has great advice for women you are sometimes very uncomfortable or reluctant to "toot their horn." If you aren't sure how to "sell yourself" without sounding like you're "bragging", get this book now!
  • How To Persuade People Who Don't Want To Be Persuaded - It doesn't get any better than this book when it comes to tricks of persuasion. While this book definitely wasn't written for the Internet, there are plenty of ideas here you can use to persuade people to buy your product or service on the Web. And I mean PERSUADE!

  • No B.S. Direct Marketing For Non-Direct Marketing Businesses - Dan Kennedy doesn't pull any punches when he talks about marketing. And while his methods are adaptable to any business, most large businesses have too many marketing people who have to justify their existence to listen to what this guys says. If you are a small business owner and don't have a bnch of fancy "consultants" to handle your marketing, I can't recommend this book enough.

  • Internet Magazine - I almost never recommend print magazines because the articles are either high-level gloss-overs of a subject (in other words, they don't know what they are talking about) or extremely limited in usefulness. No so with Website Magazine. I highly recommend it to anyone in the web design industry.

Products - Copy Writing & SEO Software and Product

  • Back Link Analyzer - (Free) Great tool for seeing how many people are linking to your pages and from where. This information helps you figure out who your current market is, who you should be targeting, and whether your current strategies to get more links to your website are working.

  • WEB CEO - (Free) This software is about as good as it gets for the do-it-yourselfer for analyzing keywords and creating a search engine optimization camgaign. Since it's free and comes with free training, the Return on Investment is phenomenal. Pair this free tool with my Web Copywriting & Search Engine Optimization e-course and you're competitors will eat your dust!

Other Valuable Resources

This last website is by Jakob Nielsen, one of the foremost experts on website useability. Why do you care about "website useability"? Because when someone arrives at your website, you have about three to five seconds to convince them that you are the person with all the answers to their questions.

Nielsen is the guy who does all the studies and research that shows what people are doing in those three to five seconds. If you don't know what they and their "eyeballs" are doing, how will you know how to convince them to stay?
